A couple of weeks ago, there was a free book festival near my house. In past years I’ve given out little blank homemade books, bookmarks, and creative business cards. I’ve only sold books to friends. This year I decided to focus more on my main character. I made some jewelry that matches what is described in the book and offered it as prizes for a little game. OK, I got into it and made some jewelry that didn’t strictly match, but I had fun.
I then printed up a card describing my character and the game. 
And wrote the letters on leaves that I put around on other authors’ tables, after asking permission of course. They all said yes.
The result: I sold three books and a pair of earrings, two sales were to strangers.
